Tax Associate

We are looking for an exceptional candidate to join our award-winning tax team (Tolley's 2019 Best In-House Tax Team Award).

The successful candidate will be based in Omnicom's European headquarters in Southwark Street (SE1), London, alongside around 200 people in finance, treasury, real estate, IT & tax, and will report into the UK Tax Manager, but will work across the UK, EMEA & APAC tax teams. This role presents an opportunity for someone to join a high-calibre and forward-thinking tax team in a fascinating fast-moving industry.

Specific duties:

  • Responsible for supporting & delivering the annual UK tax compliance process including preparation of UK corporation tax returns
  • Supporting the tax manager in dealing with any tax enquiries that arise across CT, PAYE & VAT;
  • Researching and documenting tax technical points, and keeping up to date with legislative changes;
  • Supporting in delivering training sessions for the finance & HR teams in our agencies;
  • Assisting other members of the UK tax team to provide tax advice and support to Omnicom agencies;
  • Building strong relationships and rapport with internal and external finance and commercial colleagues;
  • Other responsibilities will include (as needed):

o Supporting in reviewing the tax reporting undertaken by our UK agencies on a quarterly basis for US GAAP reporting, and annually in the UK-GAAP statutory accounts;

o Supporting the tax manager with co-ordinating the SAO process;

o Looking for process improvements, including implementing new technologies;

o Supporting on the compliance needed for BEPS Pillar 2, and related OECD/EU initiatives;

o Supporting the wider team with the UK statutory account process;

o Supporting the tax manager on an ad-hoc basis with project work relating to restructuring and acquisitions.

Essential qualities:

  • Working towards ACA or similar accountancy qualification and/or CTA (ideally part-qualified), with at least 1 year of relevant tax experience
  • Enthusiastic attitude to work & strong attention to detail;
  • Good problem-solving and numerical skills;
  • Strong people skills with an ability to work collaboratively with the wider organisation;
  • Confidence & gravitas;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
  • Proven ability to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines;
  • A good understanding of Microsoft Office and the ability to utilise new systems quickly;
  • Strong team player.
