Are you a recent psychology or criminology graduate?

Are you looking to gain experience with students with special needs?

We are seeking a Youth Mental Health Worker to work with an SEN school in the Maidenhead district.

The School: A specialist SEN school are looking for support staff to join their community in the new academic year, starting September 2024. Psychology and criminology graduates looking to gain experience in preparation for a career in educational psychology or occupational therapy are encouraged to apply. The school cater to students with complex needs, learning disabilities as well as social, emotional and mental health needs. The school boasts a wide range of benefits for students with additional needs such as purpose built facilities available including sensory rooms, construction rooms, art therapy areas. The successful Youth Mental Health Worker will be able to see how extra support can keep students motivated and excited to follow the curriculum.

The Job Role: As a Youth Mental Health Worker, the candidate must be willing to:

  • Work on a 1-1 basis or in small groups to provide students with the consistent support they cannot access in mainstream education
  • Act as a role model to students
  • Provide behavioural and pastoral support
  • Helping students find solutions to day-to-day dilemmas
  • Identify areas or improvement and potential triggers for students
  • Attend team meetings and discuss learning plans for students
  • Collaborate with teachers, therapists and psychologists on-site to personalise the curriculum to be flexible for each student.
