Group Accounts Manager - Malmesbury - Up to: £65,000
Trial Balance Consulting are delighted to have been exclusively engaged by a new client; a highly successful and rapidly expanding group of retail focussed businesses operating multiple trading sites throughout the South West. The company has tasked us with sourcing an experienced Group Accounts Manager, a newly created and important role within the business. This opportunity is offered as a full time, permanent contract and will be based on-site in Malmesbury.
Working closely with the company directors and a fractional Finance Director, and supported by a small but experienced team, this will be a broad-ranging and interesting opportunity for a candidate with strong experience of preparing group accounts and managing a finance team. Key responsibilities to include:
- Assume lead responsibility for all accounting protocols and maintaining robust internal controls
- Support, mentor and develop a team of four colleagues conducting regular appraisals and delegating tasks as appropriate
- Production of high quality, accurate monthly management accounts and KPI analysis with accompanying commentary
- Annual budget preparation
- Preparation of statutory accounts, corporation tax returns and VAT reports
- Liaise with external auditors, tax advisors and other professionals
- Oversee credit control
- Ensure efficient supplier payment processes
- Management of the payroll function
- Identify and implement ongoing system and process improvements
- Development of new management information reports
- Support directors and senior management with projects, including new branches
This role calls for an accomplished, commercially astute accountant with a history of effective leadership. The successful candidate will be professionally qualified (ACA/ACCA/CIMA), and possess experience of managing the accounting function of a growing business operating above the audit threshold. Previous experience gained in a multi-site stockholding business would be highly advantageous. This is a role that regularly liaises with colleagues in all departments and across the South West so excellent team-working and communication skills is essential.
