Salary: £45,000 - £55,000

About the Role:

I am working with a leading retailer who are looking for a Data Engineer to join their ever-growing Data team in Greater Manchester.

In this role, you will play a critical part in generating insights from data gathered across all areas of their business, including retail, leadership, merchandising, and logistics. Your work will directly impact their ability to make data-driven decisions, enhancing the overall business operations.

If you are someone who thrives on working with data, enjoys modern data platforms, and has experience in developing data pipelines, this role is perfect for you. While a solid technical background is desirable, what's more important is your eagerness to learn new technologies and help drive success through innovative data solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Participate in the entire data analytics pipeline, from exploring datasets to modelling them into valuable analytical products.
  • Develop and maintain ETL/ELT mappings and pipelines to support the data platform.
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of other Engineers, DI Developers, analysts, and subject matter experts to deliver data solutions that meet the needs of key stakeholders.
  • Utilize strong technical knowledge in data integration methodologies and advanced SQL skills to manipulate and manage data efficiently.
  • Work closely with business stakeholders, data engineers, and leadership teams to identify analytical needs and provide solutions.
  • Support the Central Data function in improving and expanding the existing data analytics platform through innovation and new initiatives.

What You'll Bring:

  • A strong passion for data and its potential to transform business decision-making.
  • Hands-on experience in building data pipelines and knowledge of ETL/ELT processes.
  • Excellent SQL skills and experience in data manipulation.
  • Knowledge of GCP is essential
  • Ability to engage effectively with technical stakeholders and business subject matter experts.
  • A willingness to learn and adopt new technologies as needed to enhance our data capabilities.
  • Experience working with modern data platforms (experience with tools like Apache Airflow, Talend, or others is a plus).
