Treasury and Banking Officer

The successful Treasury and Banking Officer applicant will be responsible for supporting the Head of Financial Operations in providing the smooth operation of all banking, treasury and reconciliation tasks and activities in the Banking & Treasury Team in Financial Services.

Duties

  1. Day to day coordination of the online Store activities including presentations and demonstrations to stakeholders.
  2. Processing to include making and receiving payments by various payment methods, the reconciliation of the daily transactions and responsible for banking in core account.
  3. Support the processing of Treasury related bank receipts, payments and transactions including processing wallet transactions.
  4. Dealing with third party providers, customers and staff by telephone, email and in person. This will include dealing with banks, building societies and other administration.
  5. Responsible for the production of bank reconciliations and regular reconciliation of bank and control accounts, detailed management reports and provision of financial information as requested.
  6. Responsible for the monitoring, review and development of Financial Services procedures with particular reference to Treasury Management, PCI DSS, Online Store, reconciliation and customer service, including the Banking & Treasury Procedures.
  7. Assist with the monitoring of subsidiary cashflow forecasting, merchant services activities and other income/expenditure transactions using the cashflow tools and Microsoft based monitoring.
  8. Provide guidance and advice to all departments on Financial Regulations, procedures and assist in the development of good practice. To maintain an up to date knowledge of online and mobiles payments through all channels and banking legislation in order to ensure that procedures and policies are efficient, effective and compliant and systems supported.
  9. Alert the Head of Financial Operations or nominated deputy to potential problems and assist with any other duties as required by the Head of Financial Operations or nominated deputy.

Person Specification

Knowledge, Skills, and Behaviours (Essential)

  • Experience working with a high-volume customer facing setting within the Higher Education, Public Sector or other large, complex environment (Application/Interview).
  • Excellent knowledge and understanding of current card processing, online and mobile payment products, banking activities and associated regulations (Application/Interview).
  • Experience with the reconciliation of bank or control accounts or reconciliation of significant numbers of transactions (Application/Interview).
  • Experienced in the use of IT software, including Microsoft Office in particular Teams, Excel, Word and Power Point (Application/Interview).
  • Strong attention to detail, with the ability to influence and implement change and address complex issues (Application/Interview).
  • Able to ensure delivery of objectives under pressure and to tight deadlines, whilst maintaining quality and effectiveness (Application/Interview).
  • Excellent IT skills including the use of all Microsoft based products for analysis and presentation of reports using Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Teams with the ability to analyse and interpret complex transactional data and information (Application/Interview).
  • Ability to work as part of a team and able to prioritise workload and activities with deadlines (Application/Interview).
  • Knowledge and understanding of payment and best banking practice and adherence to and assisting with the development of policies and procedure manuals (Application/Interview).

The role offers free parking, hybrid working ( 2 days a week from home). 25 days Holiday plus bank holiday, flexi-time, pension.

The successful applicant must live within a commutable distance from the office ( Preston PR1 postcode) and must have recent Treasury and banking experience.
