We are delighted to be working with a well-established Food Distribution business based in Grantham in finding their new Transport Coordinator

The Role - Transport Coordinator

With responsibility for 60+ trucks as well as communicating with outsourced transport providers the new Transport Coordinator must be a confident self-starter. You will work as part of a team who coordinate all transport activities across the UK. Speaking to drivers, customers, and colleagues alike. You will have to problem solve and manage expectations as you oversee the daily plan and help deliver the product efficiently and on time.

Other responsibilities include:

  • Driver communication regarding their planned jobs for the day
  • Monitor the execution of the plan to ensure it runs smoothly.
  • Minimise any impacts to collections.
  • Arrange Backhauls.
  • Negotiate rates with outside hauliers.
  • Work with vehicle management team.
  • Ensuring drivers are complying with regulations.

The Working Hours

Monday - Friday

8:30 - 5pm

The Right Candidate - Transport Coordinator

As well as a minimum of 2 years' experience in a similar Transport role the successful candidate must also demonstrate the following on their CV:

  • A self-starter, with excellent communication skills.
  • Possessing good attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.
  • Professional telephone manner
  • Excellent organisational and prioritisation skills.
  • Ability to problem solve and suggest effective resolutions.
  • Excellent proficiency with Microsoft Excel
  • Ability to meet deadlines in a time pressured environment.
  • Able to commute daily to Grantham.
