We are seeking a Business Development Manager to drive sales and business development activities for our Optimum Sorting product range. This role is ideal for a candidate with a background in food processing capital equipment sales or project management. The successful candidate will be office-based to become familiar with our operating systems, processes, and product range. Reporting directly to the Sales Director, this highly autonomous role will involve strategic planning and execution to grow sales within the UK and Ireland.

Day to Day of the Role:

  • Conduct market research to identify opportunities for the equipment range.
  • Engage in telephone prospecting to generate leads.
  • Arrange and conduct customer visits and meetings, achieving weekly visit targets.
  • Manage time and resources to meet sales and profitability goals.
  • Organise and oversee customer trials.
  • Send sales introduction letters and literature packs.
  • Write and send targeted area mailshots, including email campaigns and telephone follow-ups.
  • Liaise with suppliers on specific projects.
  • Learn about the equipment range and suppliers.
  • Promote the full product range to customers and prospects.
  • Assist with machine installations when necessary.
  • Update the company's CRM system with sales activities.
  • Provide weekly and monthly sales reports and feedback to the Sales Director.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Proven background in food processing capital equipment sales or project management.
  • Demonstrable strategic approach to sales growth.
  • Strong relationship-building skills with suppliers and third-party specifiers.
  • Proficiency in using CRM systems for sales tracking and reporting.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to manage time effectively and autonomously.
  • Willingness to travel as required for customer visits and meetings.
