Engineering Manager

My Engineering client based in Hamilton is recruiting an Engineering Manager to ensure that all engineering activities associated with the execution of a project meet the company's contractual obligations.

The Engineering Manager, based in Hamilton, will be responsible for the coordination of activities at a project level and interfacing with clients. They will ensure engineering resources are controlled and monitored within the assigned project budgets.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for planning and managing the engineering activities and resources to meet planned technical and cost objectives of the project.
  • Responsible for liaising with the assigned project Planner in developing project plans and producing associated reports.
  • Responsible for the technical interface between the company, its customers, vendors, fabricators and business partners.
  • Responsible for the approval of all technical information used on the project.
  • Responsible for design change control to ensure that the commercial impact arising from changes to scope is properly addressed with the customer.
  • Responsible for the management of the technical information development process as it applies to the project.
  • Responsible for the technical content of the post-contract documentation.
  • To be the point of technical reference for the project.
  • To be a member of the Engineering Department management team.
  • To carry out such tasks within his/her capability as requested by the Head of Engineering
  • Provide support to various Engineering Departments during the initial phase of development
  • Expertise in planning and managing engineering activities to achieve planned technical and cost objectives.
  • Proficient in resource allocation and utilisation to optimise project outcomes.
  • Strong liaison skills for effective communication with project planners, customers, vendors, fabricators, and business partners.
  • Ability to facilitate productive technical interfaces between stakeholders.
  • Thorough understanding of technical information approval processes.
  • Ability to ensure the quality and accuracy of all technical information used on the project.
  • Skill in design change control to address commercial impacts resulting from scope changes.
  • Ability to navigate and negotiate changes in project scope with customers.
  • Proficient in managing the technical information development process throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Ability to streamline and optimise engineering processes to enhance efficiency.
  • Expertise in managing the technical content of post-contract documentation.
  • Attention to detail in ensuring completeness and accuracy of project documentation.

Knowledge, Skills & Experiences:

  • A relevant engineering qualification
  • Chartered Engineer and/or member of an appropriate institution desirable
  • Experience in selecting/designing process equipment
  • Experience having led multi-discipline engineering design teams
  • Minimum of 5 experience with experience of equipment fabrication and build
  • Being responsible for the success of the project.
