THE POST - Student Disability and Wellbeing Specialist - REQ000131

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Wellbeing Specialist to join the University of West of Scotland and to help shape our policies on health and wellbeing as well as to lead in the delivery of activities through- out the University. UWS is committed to providing our students with a supportive, encouraging and inspirational learning environment.

The post holder will play a leading role in promoting and safeguarding student wellbeing at the University of West of Scotland - London Campus. They will provide confidential counselling (based on a single session model) and disability support and guidance to students.

The post holder will have a good understanding of disability legislation as it applies to HE, the successful candidate will work effectively alongside Disability Team colleagues to deliver a professional service for disabled applicants and students, ensuring the needs of individual students are met (in line with the Equality Act 2010) and supporting the wider university community to meet its obligations and to provide an inclusive student experience.

The successful candidate should have the following:

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent experience.
  • Postgraduate Diploma (or equivalent) in Counselling · Membership of British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy
  • Significant experience of working in a counselling, NHS, educational or similar capacity
  • Experience of developing and delivering wellbeing services aligned to the domains of wellbeing/whole university approach.
  • Experience of leading on the development and implementation of institution-wide strategies.
  • Experience of, using data and influencing skills to build support and inspire teams, particularly through periods of significant change, with the ability to provide demonstrable evidence of achievements.
  • Experience of providing expert advice and guidance to senior managers and internal / external stakeholders to support decision making.
