Senior BDM/Sales - Contract Logistics/3pl

My client, a leading global logistics provider, is looking to recruit a national BDM/Sales professional to help grow their 3pl/Contract Logistics services.

As the Contract Logistics Business Development Manager, you will be at the forefront of the company's growth in the contract logistics field. Your role will be about creating opportunities, fostering client relationships, and tailoring logistics solutions to make clients' supply chains run smoothly.

ROLE: Senior BDM - Contract Logistics

LOCATION: National role - remote working or office based

PACKAGE: Negotiable to reflect level of candidate sought. In addition to very competitive based salary, you will be provided with an electric car from a range of vehicles, 10% commission, health care

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Market Research and Analysis:

o Conduct thorough market research to identify industries, sectors, and potential clients that align with our contract logistics capabilities.

o Analyse market trends, customer demands, and competitive landscape to refine business development strategies

Lead Generation and prospecting:

o Utilize a variety of channels, including networking, industry events, digital platforms, and referrals, to generate leads.

o Qualify leads and evaluate their potential for creating long-term partnerships.

Client Relationship Management:

o Build and maintain strong relationships with potential and existing clients.

o Understand clients' supply chain challenges and business objectives to offer suitable contract logistics solutions.

o Actively lead the RFI, RFQ and RFP process for Contract Logistics Produc

Solution Development:

o Collaborate closely with operational teams to design comprehensive logistics solutions that address clients' unique needs.

o Craft proposals, presentations, and pitches that showcase our capabilities and value proposition.

Negotiation and Contract Closure:

o Lead negotiations to establish mutually beneficial terms and contractual agreements.

o Ensure that contracts align with both client expectations and company capabilities.

Sales Strategy and Goal Setting:

o Develop and execute a strategic sales plan to achieve revenue targets and expand the company's contract logistics market share.

o Regularly review progress, adjust strategies, and take corrective actions as needed.

Collaboration and Coordination:

o Work closely with cross-functional teams, including operations, pricing, and customer service, to ensure seamless implementation of contracted services.

o Provide necessary information and insights to ensure successful project execution.

o Development of business through existing business streams. CLC, Road Freight, Air and Ocean

Market Intelligence:

o Stay informed about industry trends, emerging technologies, and regulatory changes that impact contract logistics.

o Use this knowledge to continuously enhance our service offerings and maintain a competitive edge.

Reporting and Documentation:

o Maintain accurate records of sales activities, client interactions, and project progress.

o Provide regular reports to management on sales performance, pipeline, and market insights.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum of 5 years' sales experience within the logistics sector
  • Current experience of selling 3pl/contract logistics services
  • Ability to identify strengths/weaknesses in clients' supply chains and provide best fit solutions
  • Experience of presenting at Board level
  • Strong relationship builder
  • First class communication/presentation skills
