Are you passionate about products and skilled at sourcing the best quality at competitive prices? We have an exciting opportunity for a Buyer to join my client's team on a fixed-term contract covering maternity leave. This role is crucial in delivering their strategic vision and financial plans by ensuring they provide a balanced and attractive product offering to their customers. A 4 day week would be considered for this role and hybrid working is offered after successful completion of probationary period.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Product Sourcing: Anticipate and meet customer needs by offering a balanced product range that aligns with price points and quality standards.
  • Industry Insights: Maintain a deep understanding of industry trends and commercial knowledge to keep their product offerings competitive and innovative.
  • Supplier Negotiations: Develop and sustain strong relationships with key suppliers and stakeholders to negotiate optimal terms and conditions.
  • Cost Pricing: Use your commercial acumen to finalise and approve cost pricing for products, ensuring they meet financial goals.
  • Product Development: Deliver seasonal and innovative products according to the critical path timelines.
  • Performance Analysis: Collaborate with merchandisers to analyse product performance and customer feedback, making informed recommendations for future ranges.
  • Process Management: Support and refine product processes, contributing to the development of new working procedures.
  • Supplier Management: Work with the Merchandise Team to identify and manage supplier relationships, including growth, maintenance, and exit strategies.
  • Trade Show Attendance: Attend trade shows to explore new supply routes and strengthen existing supplier relationships.
  • Team Management: Oversee an assistant, fostering their professional growth and development.
  • Content Accuracy: Ensure product information, images, and packaging briefs are accurate and completed on time for new products.
  • Quality Control: Partner with QC to ensure product compliance, address high return rates, and improve products based on customer reviews.

Person Specification:

  • Product Passion: A genuine enthusiasm for products and a clear understanding of customer motivations.
  • Market Insight: Familiarity with our current offerings and a vision for how we can innovate and evolve in the market.
  • Negotiation Skills: Strong negotiating experience with suppliers across the UK, Europe, China, and globally.
  • Organisational Skills: Ability to multitask, maintain focus, and ensure accuracy, with a keen attention to detail.
  • Communication: Excellent communication and teamwork skills, fostering positive relationships with stakeholders.
  • Collaborative Spirit: Ability to work effectively with various teams across the business.
  • Previous buying experience is essential
  • Ideally immediately available

Salary & Terms:

£37,500 to £40,000 per annum or pro rata if working 4 days per week

Fixed Term Contract - c.9-12 months

Hours: 9-5.30pm

Monday to Friday or a 4 day week would also be considered

Hybrid 3 days in the office and 2 days at home after successful probationary period
