Purchasing Administrator

We have an exciting opportunity for an accurate, organised and confident individual. The role requires someone with a 'can do' attitude and a good variety of skills. You will be required to manage your own workload and will need to have the flexibility to adapt quickly to different situations.

The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills as well as being aware of a time critical service, ability to work quickly and accurately under pressure, a good general level of literacy, numeracy and computer skills are essential for this role.

About the Role

Responsibility for particular day to day purchase order creation and goods receipting, such as:

  • Raise repeat / contractual Purchase Orders and Goods Receipts - e.g. Rent / Rates / FLTs / FLT fuel / Leased cars / Cleaning / Hired plant etc.
  • Raise intercompany recharge Purchase Orders and Goods Receipts
  • Raise Furnish Purchase Orders for the mills
  • Raise Waste Disposal and Sludge Disposal Purchase Orders
  • Support Supply Chain with the raising of haulage and customs Purchase Orders and Goods Receipts
  • Raise Energy / Utilities Purchase Orders and Goods Receipts
  • Raise Commission and Management Charge Purchase Orders and Goods Receipts

Responsibility for the maintenance of purchasing specific data in SAP, such as:

  • Update Customer Price Lists and Supplier List Prices
  • Update Standard Costs for Inventory Valuation based on recent purchase price history

Provision of operational purchasing support, such as:

  • Train new operational starters on raising Purchase Orders, Goods Receipts and standard reports for purchasing on SAP
  • Provide support and ongoing training to Operations colleagues who experience issues in raising Purchase Orders and Goods Receipts

Responsibility for purchasing system cleanliness, such as:

  • Review overdue Purchase Orders and chase outcomes
  • Close old Purchase Orders where required
  • Act as the liaison between Accounts Payable and Operations to resolve purchasing queries

Responsibility for other subsidiary purchasing tasks, such as:

  • File Delivery paperwork

Essential Skills

  • Understanding of SAP ByDesign or similar ERP system is essential.
  • Previous experience of raising PO's and goods receipting is essential.
  • A high level of accuracy is essential.
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Office applications - Word and Excel.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Self-motivated, proactive and takes ownership.
  • Excellent organisation skills - planning/organised and efficient.
  • To be able to work under pressure and adapt to changing priorities/deadlines.
  • Master data maintenance experience is desirable.
