Governance and Risk Business Partner

Gateway Housing has been supporting communities to thrive since 1926. We are an ambitious London based housing association with over 3,000 homes in the heart of London's East End. We provide social rented homes, shared ownership, and sheltered housing. We develop new homes too and are part way through an exciting programme to deliver another 250 homes by 2025. We also run our own in-house maintenance service, Gateway Homeworks. Our vision is that people will want to live in a Gateway home and people will want to work at Gateway.

**The role

We are looking for a Governance and Risk Business Partner to support the development and delivery of good governance and risk management practices that underpin achieving GHA's strategy, working to continuously improve positive approaches to governance, risk and assurance.

This post holder will support GHA to ensure compliance with relevant data protection legislation, and support escalation of risk and issues.

Accountabilities

Your accountabilities will include but not limited to:

  • To manage the set up and implementation of the new risk system so that it is accessible and has excellent user reporting functionality.
  • To be the custodian of the risk system and associated risk processes, helping challenge risk owners on idenitification and management of risk, and ensuring risk owners keep their risks up to date in the risk system.
  • The role holder helps support the maintenance of the Board Assurance Framework which becomes a valuable tool for GHA. The role holder completes high quality second line assurance activities that add value and enhance the control framework.
  • To execute an agreed programme of second line assurance reviews, reporting findings to management.
  • To support the organisation complete their periodic control self-assessments and annual assurance statements.
  • Act as the co-ordinator of the notification of incidents across the organisation to our insurance claims handler
  • Liaise with our insurance claims handler and Gateway colleagues to ensure all necessary details relating to incidents are provided and follow-up queries are addressed.
  • To ensure compliance with the Social Tenants Access to Information Scheme (STAIRS), supporting development of associated process and practices.

Key Skills, Knowledge and Experience:

  • Sound knowledge of Governance and Risk
  • Understanding of risk management principles, assurance and governance.
  • Experience of working in the housing sector
  • Strong communications skill
  • GDPR related qualification, such as Act Now GDPR Practitioners Certificate of equivalent
  • Organisational skills
  • Problem solving skills
