Job Purpose

This Management Accountant role is an end -to-end remit looking after the Profit & Loss for the company - focusing on a number of specialisms, including the effective monitoring of accommodation hire, pricing structures and distribution channels, management of cash and senior debt, and intragroup transactions.

Responsibilities include:

  • Working with the Customer Accounts team to maintain the Revenue Rec on a weekly basis, ensuring a full reconciliation identifying the key variances and closing them out and questioning the validity of the balances where appropriate
  • Post Monthly Revenue and Cost of Sales for the Shops & Clubs within various sites under remit
  • Maintain Prepayments and Accruals from P&L and Balance Sheet perspectives
  • Full P&L reviews at Group level and individual sites, Business Partnering with the sites General Managers to establish a close working relationship and being the 'Go to' person. This includes but is not limited to Variance analysis against budget and also trend
  • Full Ownership of the HGL Balance Sheet, ensuring full understanding of exposure within and interrogation of the balances and transaction held, this includes but is not limited to Fixed Assets, Bank reconciliations and postings, VAT Returns and Intercompany
  • Supporting the HOF on annual budgeting process, being an integral point of contact and understanding the numbers and business to enable to challenge the business where needed
  • Supporting the HOF on process improvements and efficiencies
  • Supporting the HOF on any system improvements and highlighting limitations or nuances as they arise
  • Supporting the HOF on the Audit for the HGL entity, both at Interim and End of Year ensuring tasks are correctly allocated and completed within the required time.
  • Supporting the HOF to implement key controls and support for Balance Sheets to maintain a clean Audit
  • Work closely with the Purchase Ledger team to improve processes which in turn enable a clean P&L and Balance Sheet
  • Any other ad hoc tasks required by the HOF and CFO

Knowledge, skills & experience:

  • Working towards ACCA or CIMA
  • Internal customer orientation, with proven experience of facilitating informed decision making
  • Positive attitude and keen to learn
  • Ideally from a multi-site consumer facing business, whilst not critical it would be highly advantageous
  • Good understanding of financial transactions and how cash impacts financial reporting
  • Methodical, accurate and able to meet deadlines
  • Able to communicate at all levels of the business, to a wide range of internal customers
  • Excellent numeracy and communication skills
  • Keen eye to detail
  • Able to work within a fast-paced environment
  • Enjoy the challenge of ad-hoc projects
  • Happy to travel to our sites around the country
