Production Engineer

Shift: Days Only
Salary: £34,000 Per Annum

Metalis is working in partnership with a manufacturing company in Manchester who due to continuous growth are looking to hire a Production Engineer on a permanent contract.

Job Duties:

  • To provide engineering support for the manufacturing facility
  • To read, understand CAD drawings with a keen eye for detail and understanding of how to transfer the data on drawings into BOMs on the ERP system (Syteline / SAP)
  • Responsible for the analysis, planning and management of all Manufacturing orders, workloads, Bill of Materials and related documentation/databases
  • Provide technical leadership to the production team, driving the optimisation of manufacturing processes and resolving technical challenges
  • Preparation/updating of new/existing manufacturing process documentation (SOP's) and associated tooling required for product manufacture
  • Achieve ERP 'super-user' status; and act as a main trainer/advisor for Manufacturing Planning, Production and Inspection staff
  • Deliver appropriate training to colleagues in Manufacturing Planning procedures/Syteline system
  • To co-ordinate planning, material and system updates/changes in result of design changes/modifications/deviations etc; and ensure adherence to GQCP and other system/process control procedures
  • To attend weekly/monthly departmental and other meetings as required; and represent Manufacturing at ERP/Planning review meeting
  • To ensure that database tasks are actioned/updated and overdue tasks are brought to the attention of management daily
  • To oversee procedures and conformance by Production staff in job time/progress booking: and adherence to job-track/ERP processes
  • Ensure production schedules are assessed in advance and all materials requirements are created/actioned to fulfil in-house Manufacturing, Outsource, free-issue and subcontract demands
  • To review and prepare relevant GQCPs/Manufacturing procedures/M Docs for process control and audits
  • To undertake ongoing specified training in CAA/EASA Part 21G, Part 145 and Human Factors, Lean Manufacturing, H&S
  • To work a certain number of additional hours/weekends during busy periods
  • To adhere to all ASL Health and Safety Policies
  • To drive company vehicles when and where required
  • From time to time, you will be expected to carry out duties as and when reasonably requested by a manager which are related to the services offered by this company, particularly during busy periods or to assist our customers at short notice

Job Requirements:

  • Proven skills, knowledge and experience in understanding CAD drawings
  • Knowledge in one or more of the following areas. Vac form, machine shop, injection moulding or final assembly.
  • To have good organisational skills
  • To have good IT skills
  • To have good attention to detail and be capable of working to high quality standards/tolerances
  • To be flexible towards hours of work and carry out overtime during busy periods
  • To be a good team worker with good interpersonal skills to liaise closely with other departments

Salary & Shift:

  • 40 Hour working week
  • Monday to Friday, days only
  • £34,000 Per Annum
