Central Payroll Accountant

We are seeking a Central Payroll Accountant to take ownership of the payroll accounting function for a 6-month fixed-term contract. This hybrid role requires attendance at our Chippenham office on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. The successful candidate will ensure up-to-date reconciliations and meet statutory reporting deadlines, providing a vital service to the business.
Day-to-day of the role:
- Maintain up-to-date reconciliations and ensure statutory reporting deadlines are met.
- Foster and maintain a strong relationship with the payroll team.
- Guarantee the accuracy of general ledger payroll transactions.
- Assist the Senior Payroll Accounting Assistant with year-end statutory reports and annual insurance data preparation.
- Support the Financial Services Manager with half-year and year-end audit requirements.
- Identify and implement areas for continuous improvement.
- Ensure operating procedures are current and adhered to.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Experience in a similar payroll accounting role.
- Technical accounting proficiency with a clear understanding of balance sheet workings.
- Self-motivated with a strong drive for results.
- Qualified or qualified by experience in accounting.
- Excellent attention to detail.
