Painter / General Operative
Job Overview:
This a permanent opportunity for a Painter / General Operative to be responsible for preparing and applying coatings to steel beams and structures to protect them from corrosion, rust, and other forms of deterioration. This role involves working with a variety of paint types and application techniques in both indoor and outdoor environments.
Painter Key Responsibilities:
- Clean and prepare steel surfaces beams
- Operating tools and machinery.
- Apply primers to ensure paint adhesion and durability.
- Apply protective coatings, including primers, paints, varnishes, and specialized coatings (such as fire-resistant paints).
- Follow all safety protocols, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Operate and maintain painting equipment according to safety guidelines.
- Inspect painted surfaces for defects, ensuring that the paint is applied evenly and adheres properly.
- Perform touch-ups or repairs as needed to maintain a high-quality finish.
- Maintain records of work completed.
- Report any equipment malfunctions or safety concerns to supervisors.
Experience:
- Prior experience in industrial or construction painting, particularly with steel structures, is highly desirable.
- Proficiency in various painting techniques and tools
- Knowledge of different paint types and their appropriate applications.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to carry out physical labour tasks
- Stamina to work in various weather conditions, as the job may involve outdoor work.
Painter Salary:
Up to £30,000
Painter Hours:
Monday - Friday 07.30 - 17.00 and every other Saturday 06.00 - 10.00
