HOLMES (Home Office Large Major Enquiry System) is a computerised information system used by UK Police forces for the investigation of incidents and major crime. Merseyside is seeking to recruit a HOLMES Indexer to work within The Major Crime Unit (MCU), the role will primarily support the investigation of serious crime to assist in managing information, documentation, evidence, and enquiries. As an integrated part of the MUC the role will also involve performing the functions and duties required of a 'Casualty Bureau' in the event of a major incident
This is an exciting opportunity to join the HOLMES Team, there have recently seen unprecedented sentences handed out to offenders which have been widely reported in the press providing reassurance to the communities of Merseyside, this is your chance to be part of the Unit that achieves this.
Ideally you will already be trained as a HOLMES Indexer, however training will be provided to a suitable candidate. The appointed candidate must possess good IT skills and be proficient in Microsoft Office, including the Excel application. A flexible approach to working hours is a requirement, as is the ability and willingness to work throughout the Force area if required.

Job Description:

To supply indexing support and research to the Senior Investigating Officer (SIO) and Management Team on murder investigations and other complex crimes as directed.

To provide indexing support to the Senior Identification Manager (SIM) during major incidents involving mass fatalities and/or casualties.

Knowledge and Experience:

Ideally you will already be trained as a HOLMES Indexer, however training will be provided to a suitable candidate. The appointed candidate must possess good IT skills and be proficient in Microsoft Office, including the Excel application.

A flexible approach to working hours is a requirement, as is the ability and willingness to work throughout the Force area if required.
