Defour Partnership is working closely with an award winning National Social Care Charity. We are recruiting for a Director of Clinical Governance.

We are seeking an exceptional, highly accomplished and passionate leader to develop and lead their Clinical Governance across their award winning Charity as their new Director of Clinical Governance

This role develops the clinical governance strategy and leads a team to deliver this strategy through the creation and management of clinical support frameworks, the provision of expertise and leadership in clinical governance, quality assurance, and improvement. This role provides assurance to the Executive Team and to the Board of Trustees on all aspects of clinical governance to achieve clinical governance excellence

  • Flexibility! You can work your full time hours over 4 days and enjoy a long weekend, or work over 5 days to accommodate your other commitments. You need to attend meetings at their office in Widnes when required and there will be occasional UK travel required, but otherwise you can work from home or a flex between the two if you are based in the local area.

The successful candidate will lead the development and implementation of clinical governance strategy, and national and local initiatives that improves clinical support and improves the quality of care for the people they support. To champion exceptional care and support in every aspect of the role everywhere; ensuring a person-centred ethos (personalised care planning, promoting choices and preferences, reducing health inequalities, respecting human rights and embedding equal citizenship) in every aspect of the role.

You will lead and role model team culture that stimulates and supports innovation, positive risk-taking, self-reflection, adaptability, and continuous improvement to support the identification and scaling of successful innovations across the organisation, in line with business innovation and delivery of strategic objectives.

Provide leadership, expert advice, information and support to the Executive Team, Board of Trustees, managers and colleagues, on matters relating to clinical matters and ensure that the charity is kept informed of relevant national strategic issues

Skills and Experience

  • Ability to convey complex clinical information in a compelling and succinct way and garner buy in from the Executive team
  • Ability to develop national policy guidance and create practical plans to turn this in to meaningful action
  • Demonstrable experience operating effectively at Executive Level with a proven ability to plan strategically
  • Understanding of clinical governance, risk management, safeguarding, and quality assurance as it applies in Social Care
  • Depth of experience in social care and independent living
  • A relevant health, allied health or social work professional qualification (such as nursing, occupational therapy, speech and language, social worker) would be beneficial but is not essential
  • A current professional registration (such as NMC, HCPC) would be beneficial
  • Experience in and expertise in managing complex change processes while maintain sustained improvement on performance
  • Experience in building organisational capabilities, including establishing a clear vision and direction and translation into successful outcomes
  • Experience working with multi-disciplinary teams of clinical and non-clinical colleagues to deliver positive outcomes
  • Experience of leading teams to deliver outcomes (through direct and indirect reports)
  • Current knowledge of CQC and CI regulations, frameworks and inspection process
  • Deep sector knowledge of the care sector including regulatory and contractual frameworks and relevant legislation
  • Knowledge and understanding of the needs of people we support
  • Experience of carrying out regulated activity audits or inspections
  • Knowledge of Human Rights and Equality legislation
  • Excellent breadth and depth of knowledge of personalisation and inclusion agendas.
