Finance Officer

We are seeking a dedicated Finance Officer to join our team The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining high standards of financial integrity within the school environment, managing day-to-day financial processes, and ensuring compliance with the Academies Financial Handbook.

Day to Day of the role:

  • Manage financial transactions and administrative procedures of the academy.
  • Collect payments using Parent Pay for academy trips and other necessary payments.
  • Process order requests and purchase invoices through the academy's accounting system.
  • Prepare and manage payment runs and reconcile Statement of Accounts.
  • Post employee expenses and enter journals onto the accounting system.
  • Assist with bank and credit card statement reconciliations.
  • Report monthly budgets to budget holders and liaise with them regarding monitoring and reporting procedures.
  • Maintain an accurate Contracts Register and take responsibility for all academy banking.
  • Handle incoming and outgoing post and deal with internal and external queries.
  • Supervise the Finance Assistant and maintain an appropriate filing system.
  • Assist the School Business Manager and carry out general administrative tasks as required.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • GCSE (or equivalent) in English and Maths – Grade C/4 or above.
  • Experience with financial packages (PS Financials preferred).
  • Knowledge of budget setting processes and experience in financial control environments.
  • Experience in assisting with budget setting and management.
  • Knowledge of Management Information Systems (SIMS Knowledge preferable).
  • Educated to A level or equivalent with knowledge of school finance.
  • Experience working in multi-ethnic urban schools is advantageous.
