Your new organisation
Hays' client is a public sector organisation in Edinburgh who is looking to recruit an AWS Platform Engineer for an initial 6-month contract on a rate of £525pd (outside IR35). This role will be predominantly remote with occasional on-site presence likely required.
Your new role
- Work alongside Product Teams to ensure good practices for developing, testing, deploying and supporting products on AWS.
- Design, build and support services for software delivery in the organisation with a focus on the AWS Platform.
- Develop, build and support people to use libraries (usually CDK constructs) and vended services that wrap and present platform features.
- Improve security of Lambda functions
- Deprecation of on-prem products in favour of cloud based alternatives (Imperva WAF, RabbitMQ, Postgres, ElasticSearch, InfluxDB, Jenkins)
- Ensure the platform meets the organisation's governance and security requirements.
- Support the organisation's core platforms (container platform, monitoring, telemetry).
- Creating and maintaining an appropriate level of documentation, including technical options assessments that can be effectively used to communicate to the team and wider stakeholders the technical vision of the product.
- Championing ideas/changes/designs that you and/or the team believe are beneficial, influencing peers and key stakeholders as appropriate.

- Designing and building platforms in AWS.
- AWS Serverless technologies.
- CI/CD methodology and native AWS CI/CD tooling
- Defining infrastructure and processes as code.
- Applying automated testing to AWS environments and build processes.
- AWS Shield Advanced, WAFv2, AWS Firewall Manager
- AWS Lambda, CDK, S3, Cloud Formation, API Gateway, EC2, AMIs
- GuardDuty, Transit Gateway, AWS Config, Route53, CodeBuild, CodeDeploy, Codepipeline, CodeArtifact, Openshift/Kubernetes, ECS, Fargate.
- Python, Bash, Ansible, Groovy
- Git, Artifactory, ElasticSearch, OpenSearch, Jenkins, Kibana, Grafana
- AWSLinux, RHel, Ubuntu
- Experience with AWS Security and Networks.
- Experience using Prisma Cloud
