Nest Education are looking for an English Specialist Tutor to deliver 1:1 tuition in this specialist setting in Wigan. You will be teaching pupils working between levels 1-7 in GCSE English. Therefore you may well specialise in tutoring English, but will also have experience of delivering tuition on a 1:1 basis and ideally to disengaged pupils, pupils of low ability or pupils with Social Emotional and Mental Health Needs (SEMH). At this provision, Teachers also receive PPA time every day for 2 hours from 2.30pm- 4.30pm.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • 1:1 and whole class teaching in smaller classes.
  • Following the curriculum and differentiating lessons accordingly.
  • Ensuring that teaching and learning is adapted to make lessons as engaging and accessible to learners as possible.
  • Working with support staff in class to ensure behaviour is well managed and positive behaviours are rewarded.

You will ideally have the following to be successful in the role:

  • An experienced Tutor, Teacher or Experienced Teaching Assistant.
  • Have previous experience of teaching English or delivering English interventions.
  • Experience of working with children or adults with Social Emotional and Mental Health Needs, Autism or ADHD would be a distinct advantage.
  • Full Time availability on an ongoing basis.
