Salary: £35 p/h (£63,700 p.a.)

Are you an expert in fraud prevention looking for an exciting new challenge? Our client is seeking a dedicated Fraud Officer to join our dynamic team. This is your chance to play a pivotal role in a significant change programme aimed at enhancing the services we provide to our residents.

Our client is undergoing a major transformation to deliver services directly to our residents. We are committed to improving the resident experience and managing an expanding portfolio, with over 1,000 new homes coming under our management next year, reaching a total of 3,500 by 2025. To support this growth, we are establishing a specialist team focused on fraud prevention and tenancy management within our affordable rent portfolio.

Your Role: As the Fraud Officer, you will:

  • Lead Fraud Investigations: Oversee and conduct thorough investigations into suspected tenancy fraud, including sub-letting and non-occupation, ensuring compliance with legal and policy requirements.
  • Collaborate with Teams: Work closely with housing management, allocations, and other internal teams to identify and address potential fraud risks.
  • Policy Development: Identify gaps and work with management to develop and update fraud prevention policies and procedures.
  • Reporting and Analysis: Monitor and report on fraud investigation outcomes, providing insights and recommendations for service improvements.
  • Training and Awareness: Develop and deliver training programs to staff and stakeholders on fraud prevention and detection.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with external partners, including law enforcement and other housing associations, to share best practices and information.
  • Customer Focus: Ensure all interactions with residents are handled sensitively and professionally, maintaining high standards of customer service.
  • Data Management: Ensure all relevant housing systems are updated accurately and in a timely manner with investigation outcomes and related data.
  • Performance Monitoring: Track key performance indicators related to fraud prevention and adjust strategies as necessary to meet targets.
  • Professional Conduct: Maintain the highest standards of professional conduct in line with policies and procedures.
  • Additional Duties: Perform other duties as required that are commensurate with the post.

What We're Looking For:

Essential Skills & Qualifications:

  • Knowledge and Experience: Strong technical knowledge of tenancy fraud prevention and housing allocations. Experience in conducting fraud investigations and managing caseloads.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Effective communication skills for a variety of situations. Ability to build collaborative relationships with colleagues, residents, and external partners.
  • Technical Skills: High level of IT literacy, including proficiency with Word, Excel, Outlook, and housing management systems. Developed numeric, analytical, and decision-making skills.
  • Initiative and Independence: Ability to make independent decisions confidently while knowing when to seek guidance. Innovative thinking to devise effective solutions to fraud-related challenges.
  • Professionalism: Excellent written and verbal communication skills tailored to different audiences, including reports and presentations. Ability to maintain professional and ethical standards at all times.

Desirable Skills:

  • Some experience in project management.
  • Experience working with external letting agents or managing agents.
