Health & Safety Advisor

We are proud to be supporting this groundbreaking scientific business, with sustainability at its core, in their search for a new Health & Safety Advisor to join the team.

With their technology in full development and ready to make a positive impact to sustainable manufacturing globally, this is an incredibly exciting to join as the business is growing exponentially.

You will work closely with the senior team to ensure robust HSE processes are embedded in the core of the organisation. As the businesses' subject matter expert for all HSE matters, you will business partner to embed best practice across the organisation.. There is a significant personal development plan on offer for the right candidate. There will be travel to a sister site in East Anglia, with all expenses covered, one day a week. The company premises are to the North of Cambridge City with ample parking.

Core duties include:

  • Reporting to Management, act as Company Health & Safety expert supporting the creation, implementation, development, monitoring, and review of safety arrangements
  • Monitoring and enforcement of relevant safety rules and statutory safety requirements.
  • Responsible for the creation, communication, and implementation of safety initiatives
  • Work with any external advisors to ensure the business is working to current best practice for health and safety
  • Act as chair of the Safety Committee reporting to management
  • Training research staff so that they can operate effectively and safely in the laboratory.
  • Full in-house auditing of H&S systems and training

Role Requirements:

  • Holds a NEBOSH qualification and knowledge of working to ISO45001.
  • 2-3 years' experience working in a Health and Safety role, ideally in a research based environment with sound knowledge of the principles of good laboratory practice and good occupational safety.
  • Excellent communicator and flexible team player that is comfortable working with and being the interface across different divisional teams.
  • Highly organised with a strong attention to detail, with the ability to plan, design and have fixed deadlines
  • Experience of troubleshooting with excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to manage several tasks simultaneously
