Moulding Supervisor

Our client based in St Leonards, East Sussex is expanding its team and looking to employ a Moulding Supervisor.

Main Duties:

  • To safely install, set up and remove moulds from injection and extrusion machines.
  • To supervise the activities of all personnel within the department ensuring they are manufacturing goods in accordance with the works orders and authorised drawings and to a high standard.
  • To organise the day-to-day workload of your team and allocate specific tasks to team members particularly export orders ensuring all extra checks are completed and documented. Action to be taken for any needs created seasonally or by absence within the department.
  • To liaise daily with the Operations Manager to discuss any issues and needs within your department.
  • To ensure the inspection of incoming materials is carried out as per the "Goods Inwards Inspection Manual" completing inspection forms where necessary. Any issues or defects must be reported to the Production Buyer and Production Manager.
  • To monitor raw material stock, informing the Production Buyer and Production Manager of any irregularities or shortages, ensuring all stock is suitably stored and rotated i.e. oldest stock used first.
  • To ensure all staff keep plant and equipment in good working order and the working areas are kept clean and tidy. Responsible for ensuring monthly maintenance checks are actioned and recorded.
  • Ensure calibrated items are inspected as requested by the Quality Manager. Any failures must be actioned.
  • To organise and document all internal training needs, ensuring all products in the department have ample skill coverage to cover any sickness and holiday.
  • To enforce company rules and safety policy as laid out within the Company Handbook, ensuring all personnel fully understand these rules. Any matters that could directly affect health and safety or breach company rules must be reported to the Operations Manager.
  • Work with the Production Office on setting and reviewing lead times.
  • To complete orders to the company database when possible.
  • To promptly inspect and report back to the Production Office on all customer returns.
  • To conduct spot checks on products countersigning each inspection log daily.
  • Ensure tool maintenance and liaise with tooling manufacturers regarding repairs.
  • Responsible for manufacturing stock take/cycle counts.
  • Attend Product Development Meetings as required and work with the team on any ongoing projects.
  • To be a keyholder, responsible when required for opening or locking the building.
  • To carry out as and when required any other duties to facilitate the effective operation of the company, or any reasonable request from the Operations Manager, Production Manager, Directors or a Senior Manager.

Qualification's Skills and Experience:

  • Experience of injection moulding, extrusion and tool changes
  • Be able to supervise a team
  • Be able to work at all times in accordance with the Company's quality procedures.
  • Be able to protect all quality system documentation issued in order to prevent loss, damage and deterioration.
  • Be able to contribute ideas towards improvements in the quality system.
  • Be able to cooperate during quality system audits and implement immediate and long-term corrective action under direct control within agreed time scales

Hours:

  • Monday to Thursday
  • 6am to 5pm
  • 20-minute paid break and a 30-minute unpaid break.
  • 10.5 hours per day, totalling 42 hours per week.
