We are seeking a dedicated Learning Support Assistant to join our team and work in partnership with the class teacher to support learning in line with the National Curriculum, Codes of Practice, and School Policies and Procedures. This role is vital in accelerating pupil progress and assisting with their personal development and well-being.

Day to day of the role:

  • Work closely with individual pupils under the direction of teaching staff, implementing planned learning activities and adjusting them based on pupil responses.
  • Support pupils throughout the school day, including during break-time and lunch-time, facilitating games and activities.
  • Assist pupils with eating, dressing, and hygiene as required, while promoting independence.
  • Establish positive relationships with pupils and support them in making rapid progress.
  • Promote positive pupil behaviour in line with school policies and help keep pupils on task.
  • Support the inclusion and acceptance of children with special needs within the classroom.
  • Participate in planning and evaluation of learning activities with the teacher, providing feedback on pupil progress and behaviour.
  • Monitor and record pupil activities, writing records and reports as required.
  • Arrange and provide resources for lessons/activities under the direction of the teacher.
  • Attend to pupils' personal needs, including social, welfare, and health matters, and provide minor first aid.
  • Assist with the development and implementation of Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs).
  • Liaise with other staff and provide information about pupils as appropriate.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Experience working with children in an educational setting is preferred.
  • Understanding of the National Curriculum and school policies.
  • Ability to establish positive relationships with pupils and promote inclusion.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to professional development and willingness to attend relevant training.
  • Knowledge of health, safety, and welfare policies.
  • Respect for confidentiality and adherence to the school's safeguarding policies.
