External Manufacturing Procurement Manager -What You'll be Doing:

The Manager, External Manufacturing Procurement will play an important role operating in a complex, multi-stakeholder and cross-functional environment. The purpose of the role is to support the management of External Manufacturing contract manufacturing organizations (CMO's), sourcing and negotiation activities to drive value for patients. The role will engage with internal stakeholders to understand business requirements, use market intelligence to support strategy development and supplier negotiations, and contract execution. Responsibilities also include supplier performance management.

This role will include the following responsibilities:

  • Perform strategic sourcing activities to meet the supply strategy for assets across the External Manufacturing network.
  • Support the implementation of robust category strategies underpinned by strong strategic Contract Manufacturing Organization (CMO) relationships, and leadership endorsed network change business cases used in making critical decisions on future network design.
  • Developing negotiation plans and the ongoing contract management of CMO's for commercial and late phase clinical products.
  • Manage the financial budget for portfolio of contract manufacturing spend based on negotiated pricing and volume forecasts.
  • Fully understand and develop market intelligence for the category group to understand the CMO supply base in order to benchmark and identify opportunities, relative to small molecule drug products (oral solid dose, derms) and packaging.
  • Ensure performance monitoring and improvement plans are in place with CMO's, to deliver continuous improvement.
  • Lead projects across cross functional teams that include Supply, Procurement, Quality and Technical teams to identify business requirements to support the development and approval of the sourcing strategies, supplier selection and contract execution.
  • Communicate with key stakeholders across the business to support the business strategy, communicating CMO capabilities, supply costs and pricing.
  • Drive portfolio optimization to establish a preferred CMO network.
  • Manage the commercial risk profile of the CMO network in line with business continuity objectives.
  • Ensure delivery of Procurement Policy & Compliance fundamentals: third party risk management and capacity availability..

External Manufacturing Procurement Manager - The Skills You'll Need to Succeed:

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Project management experience
  • Change management experience
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Budget management
  • Market intelligence building, benchmarking and analysis
  • Experience in the assessment of identified CMO's through procurement sourcing processes
  • Ideally experience in the pharmaceutical sector
  • Experience in managing relationships with CMO's
  • Experience in developing sourcing strategies and managing their implementation across multiple geographies and supply chains
  • Experience in managing global/regional projects with consideration to diverse location-specific needs and regulations
