Remedy are seeking a dedicated and skilled Design and Technology Technician to join a dynamic supportive team in Braintree. This is a fantastic opportunity to contribute to the learning and development of our students and work in a vibrant educational environment.

Responsibilities for a Design and Technology Teacher:

  • Provide technical support and assistance to teaching staff in the Design and Technology department.
  • Prepare and set up equipment, tools, and materials for practical lessons, ensuring they are safe and in proper working condition.
  • Assist in the maintenance and repair of machinery, tools, and equipment to ensure they are safe and fit for purpose.
  • Assist in the ordering, organization, and inventory management of equipment, materials, and supplies.
  • Collaborate with teaching staff to develop and create teaching resources and materials for Design and Technology projects.
  • Support students during practical sessions, providing guidance and instruction on the safe and effective use of tools and equipment.
  • Maintain a clean and organised workshop and storage areas.
  • Assist in the supervision and monitoring of students during practical sessions, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations.
  • Keep up to date with advancements in Design and Technology, attending relevant training sessions and workshops as required.

Requirements for Design and Technology Teacher:

  • Relevant technical qualification or experience in Design and Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Proficiency in operating and maintaining a range of Design and Technology machinery, tools, and equipment.
  • Sound knowledge of health and safety practices and regulations within a workshop environment.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with teaching staff and students.
  • Attention to detail and the ability to work with precision.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to meet the changing needs of the department.
  • Experience working in an educational environment, particularly in a secondary school, is desirable.
