Learning Support Assistant

The Role: As a Learning Support Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting the educational and personal development of students with special educational needs (SEN) or disabilities. You will work closely with teachers and other staff members to implement individualized learning plans, provide one-on-one support to students, and assist with classroom activities. Your responsibilities may include:

  • Providing tailored support to students with SEN or disabilities, both inside and outside the classroom.
  • Assisting with the implementation of individual education plans (IEPs) and behavior management strategies.
  • Supporting students with their academic work, including reading, writing, and mathematics.
  • Promoting inclusion and social integration by facilitating interactions between students.
  • Monitoring and recording student progress, and reporting back to teaching staff.
  • Collaborating with teachers, parents, and external professionals to ensure the holistic development of students.

Requirements: To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A genuine passion for working with children and making a positive difference in their lives.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with students, colleagues, and parents.
  • Patience, empathy, and resilience when working with students who may have complex needs.
  • The ability to work effectively as part of a team, as well as independently when required.
  • Previous experience working with children or young people, particularly those with SEN or disabilities, is desirable but not essential.
