Transport Controller Pay: £35,520 (inclusive of 20% shift allowance) Hours: Monday to Friday, rotating shifts, 6am - 2pm and 2pm - 10pm Location: Widnes, WA8 0SQ Contract: Temporary with the possibility of becoming permanent

Pertemps are recruiting for an experienced Transport Controller to work for a national client, based in Widnes at a brand-new site.

The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating and preparing delivery and collection of freight information, ensuring all documentation is processed and completed on time and accurately whilst providing excellent customer service. The role offers a salary of £35,250, which includes a 20% shift allowance. The hours are full-time, Monday to Friday, on rotating shifts of 6am to 2pm and 2pm to 10pm. This role is offered on an ongoing temporary basis, so please only apply if you are seeking a temporary role with potential for permanency.

Duties will include:

  • Delivering outstanding customer service.
  • Coordinating the collection and delivery of goods.
  • Preparing transport and customer documents in line with standard operating procedures.
  • Entering dispatch information into GTS.
  • Exploring routing options for the Transport Plan for new or modified customers/destinations.
  • Loading and building finished goods stock to amend the planning schedule where required.
  • Coordinating with MLS and other UK Freight departments and locations.
  • Proactively escalating potential service issues to management and customers.
  • Building and loading finished goods stock to adjust the planning schedule as needed.
  • Ensuring departmental flexibility by covering colleagues' tasks during holidays and absences.
  • Investigating routing options for new or modified customers/destinations in the Transport Plan.
  • Liaising with the operation to ensure stock is despatched correctly.
  • Adhering to client company values.
  • Performing any other reasonable tasks as assigned by the Management Team.
  • Adhering to all company health and safety policies.
  • Ensuring all administration is up-to-date and accurate.

Skills and experience required:

  • Strong Microsoft Office skills are essential:
  • Proven experience within the logistics industry.
  • Proven experience within a customer-facing role.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • The ability to follow work procedures.
  • Knowledge of WTD and Drivers' hours regulations is essential.
  • GTS training is desirable.
