Square Peg Associates is currently recruiting for a commercially driven Purchasing, Materials Controller to work with a successful manufacturing firm based in Accrington. The business is experiencing significant success in their market and on the back of this growth; require an experienced Purchasing Assistant to be responsible for the co-ordination of goods, parts and components to ensure that the production team is stocked of materials.

To excel in this role, you will need knowledge of supply chain, forecasting and co-ordination of materials. It is the responsibility of the Material Control teams to ensure that components and parts are available for production and projects and ensure the times of delivery schedules are met. The Material Control team also need to ensure materials are effectively received, logged and stored.

We are looking for someone who loves dealing with suppliers, getting the best from them, forecasting the purchasing requirements, through to liaising with good-in to ensure swift delivery.

Description

The role will oversee the following responsibilities:

  • Working alongside the busy / high volume Stock & Inventory team to swiftly deliver purchasing and materials control services
  • Your role will include planning, scheduling and forecasting of parts, components and goods to meet production demand and orders
  • Management of daily stock items and reports on the system and keeping track of lead times and orders placed and received
  • Placing orders and building strong working relations with your suppliers
  • Allocating Purchase Order Numbers for all purchases
  • Vast liaison and communication across production, goods in and the inventory teams as well as internal and external suppliers
  • The ability to multi task in a fast paced environment with a flexible approach to changing work priorities at short notice
  • A highly self-motivated person, with the ability to working alone as well as being a strong team player

Person/Skills

  • Proven knowledge and hands-on experience of Purchasing, Materials Control, Procurement, Supply Chain, Buying
  • 2-4 years within a Purchasing / Materials Control role is essential
  • Effective communication skills and a people person in order to build fruitful working relationships with both internal staff and suppliers
  • A keen eye for detail, effective time management, problem solving and analytical skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including report writing
  • Solid IT skills, use of MS Office and advanced knowledge of Excel would be advantageous and /or use of a MRP or ERP system
