Empowering Learning is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Learning Support Assistant to join a vibrant and supportive secondary school based in Newham. This full-time role, starting in September, offers an exciting opportunity to make a significant impact on the lives of students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD).
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide tailored support to students with ASD and ADHD, ensuring their individual needs are met.
- Assist in the development and implementation of individualized education plans (IEPs).
- Work closely with classroom teachers to create an inclusive learning environment.
- Support students in both academic and social activities, fostering their overall development.
- Employ effective behavior management strategies to support positive student behavior.
- Facilitate small group and one-on-one sessions to reinforce learning objectives.
- Monitor and record student progress, providing feedback to teachers and parents.
- Collaborate with school staff and external professionals to support student learning and well-being.
Requirements:
- Previous experience working with students with ASD and ADHD is highly desirable.
- Strong understanding of the challenges and strategies associated with supporting students with special educational needs.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Patience, empathy, and a passion for helping students succeed.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
- Relevant qualifications or training in special education is a plus.
