SEN Teaching Assistant

Do you collaborate with classroom teachers and other professionals to ensure a coordinated approach to supporting SEN student's learning and well-being?

Can you ensure that SEN students feel valued and included in the school community, and what strategies do you employ to promote their social and emotional well-being?

As a special educational needs (SEN) TA you'll provide assistance for teachersin delivering an exciting and engaging curriculum. You will offer additional learning opportunities for pupils, helping them to develop academically, socially and emotionally and work with children and young people who require an advanced programme of learning, in order to reach their full educational potential.

A key aspect of working in this field is identifying individual needs and being responsible for creating a safe, stimulating and supportive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Punctual and reliable
  • Assess children who have long or short-term learning difficulties and work with colleagues to identify individual pupil's special needs
  • Use special equipment and facilities, such as audiovisual materials and computers to stimulate interest in learning
  • Deal with immediate problems/emergencies according to school policy and procedures
  • Respond to questioning

  • Managing behaviour of pupils whilst undertaking work to ensure a constructive environment
  • Commitment to working with pupils with special educational needs
  • Motivated and enthusiastic demeanour
  • Be an inspiring and engaging communicator
  • use imagination and innovation to enhance learning experience

Personal Attributes:

  • you will have a genuine passion for supporting SEN pupils
  • experience up to key stage 3/4t
  • Be flexible and committed

All candidates will be subject to Randstad Education's child protection and UK eligibility vetting including a DBS check and providing satisfactory references. A DBS on the update service would be a distinct advantage due to the urgent nature of some of these roles.
