Car Pound Assistant

We are seeking a diligent Car Pound Assistant for an immediate start in an ongoing temporary booking. The role involves supervising the loading and unloading of vehicles, ensuring compliance with statutory regulations, including Health and Safety at Work Act and Institute of Vehicle Recovery standards (IVR). The shifts will be structured as 4 days on followed by 4 days off. You will be supporting the work of London's law enforcement.
Day-to-day of the role:
- Supervise the loading and unloading of vehicles in accordance with statutory regulations, including Health and Safety at Work Act, IVR, and Lifting Operations Lifting Equipment Regulations (LOLER).
- Receive and process vehicles, confirming vehicle identity upon arrival, and accurately complete vehicle removal forms.
- Move vehicles into designated storage areas, maintaining evidential continuity for vehicles removed under PACE, POCA, RTA, and statutory removals.
- Operate specialist vehicle movement equipment, adhering to Health and Safety and operating procedures, and complete all necessary paperwork. Report any faults in the equipment to the pound manager.
- Inspect vehicles post-forensic examination, restoration, or pre-disposal checks.
- Process and record property found in vehicles, including cash, drugs, weapons, and valuables, in accordance with VRES SOP's.
- Address oil and fuel spills from accident-damaged vehicles in line with Health and Safety risk assessments and environmental legislation.
- Undertake cleaning duties, including gritting the pound, cleaning equipment, and clearing rubbish from the site and office areas.
- Perform any other duties as assigned by the Pound Manager.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Experience in a similar role or environment is advantageous.
- Familiarity with Health and Safety regulations and a commitment to following them strictly.
- Ability to use specialist vehicle movement equipment and follow operating procedures.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in paperwork and record-keeping.
- Good physical fitness to perform manual handling tasks.
- Flexibility to work on a rotating shift pattern.
