We have a fantastic opportunity for two General Drivers / Grounds Maintenance Workers at Rochdale Council. This is a Full-time Temporary role for the next 2 - 3 months, with the possibility of extension.
What is the role?
Rochdale Council are looking for two General Drivers / Grounds Maintenance Workers to join our Grounds Maintenance team, to look after the green areas withing the borough of Rochdale
What are your responsibilities?
- The task will entail carrying out general gardening/ ground's maintenance duties, including grass cutting using pedestrian, handheld and ride-on machines.
- Strimming, Hedge trimming, shrub maintenance, edging off on the councils' green spaces. Weed removal, general street cleansing.
- Operatives will also be expected to Litter pick areas where required and empty litter bins if necessary.
- Candidate must be physically fit, enthusiastic, Reliable, and willing to learn about all aspects of horticulture.
- You must be able to work on their own or as part of a team.
- Must also be willing to work in any part of the borough.
- To be willing to work overtime as part of the service needs and requirements.
What skills do you Need?
- Must have previous General Driver / Grounds Maintenance experience.
- Excellent people skills, as you will be speaking to the public, and other members of staff.
- You will need to be physically fit and healthy, as you will be required to lift heavy items.
- Full UK driving Licence
- PA1 and PA6 Pesticides Spraying Licence would be preferred.
- It would also be desirable to have a qualification in Horticulture NVQ, City & Guilds or equivalent.
- Be flexible to work a 2 weekends out for 4 a month.
