Our Client manufactures and distributes chemicals. They currently have a vacancy for a Finance Supervisor. This position is predominantly office based near Bracknell. It is a part-time permanent role for 20 - 25 Hours per week; preferably four - five hours per day Monday to Friday or five - six hours per day over four days.
Job Purpose
- The main function of the Finance Supervisor is to be the connection between our businesses and our outsourced accountancy, ensuring that their work is accurate and that nothing is missed.
- Working across three SME trading companies, you need to be very detail orientated, self-motivated and be able to manage your own workflow.
Key Responsibilities
- Credit control for three companies, including advising Customer Services & Sales on adhoc credit issues
- Daily check of bank accounts and the application of payments to accounts
- Ensure that the outsourced accountancy processes payments in a timely and accurate fashion.
- Check the monthly management accounts, including divisional split and variances, ensuring that intercompany cross-charges have been correctly applied and any discrepancies in margin are investigated
- Review of payment runs following set up by the outsourced accountancy, including appropriate authorisations, and reviewing with the Director as required prior to approval
- Where necessary, assist in annual statutory audit
- Supervision of cashflow transfers between accounts (Sterling, Euro and Dollar)
- Maintenance of employee data for payroll and pension purposes and checking monthly payroll for three companies for review with the Director
- Checking monthly pension contributions for three schemes
- Check any corporation tax computations, including R&D tax credit calculations
- Check preparation of draft VAT returns
- Ensure that queries from customers and other departments are answered quickly
- Assist in the development of Finance systems and processes where necessary
Qualifications and Experience
- Some solid experience in an accounting position
- Degree standard education, qualified or part-way through professional accounting qualification (ACCA/CIMA)
- As part of a set of small busy companies, it is essential that the successful candidate is a team player with excellent interpersonal skills and able to work to deadlines
- Hardworking, conscientious and inquisitive with excellent attention to detail and ability to prioritise tasks according to business requirements.
- As an external face of Finance, ability to deal confidently with both internal and external queries face-to-face, over the phone and by email
- Able to work with multiple currencies and across multiple companies
- Excellent IT skills including experience of accounting systems and intermediate to advanced Excel skills
- Experience working across multiple business units or cost centres (Desirable)
- Experience using Business Central (Desirable) and Microsoft Excel (Essential).
- Be highly organised with an ability to multi-task
- Be a lively, engaging person who enjoys working as part of a close-knit team
