We are seeking an Accounts & Tax Manager to lead client relationships and manage a portfolio of accounts and tax work within our clients practice. The ideal candidate will be responsible for delivering outstanding service to clients, ensuring compliance with all legal and ethical standards, and driving efficiency and profitability through best practices and technology.

Day to Day of the Role:

  • Manage a portfolio of clients, lead client meetings, and provide advice on accounting and tax matters.
  • Review Accounts and Tax Returns for compliance with HMRC and Companies House standards.
  • Allocate work and prioritise tasks with Tax preparers to ensure quality output and timely progress.
  • Promote and ensure quality control of outgoing correspondence and tax returns.
  • Review team files for compliance and quality, identifying any issues.
  • Maintain client relationships up to £200k of revenue, delivering value, advice, and compliance.
  • Assist with the Company's end-of-year reporting process for clients.
  • Drive efficiency and profitability in service delivery using technology.
  • Create and maintain strong relationships with clients, Directors, and staff.
  • Contribute to a high-performing culture aligned with the organisation's vision, mission, and values.
  • Set performance measures, review performance, and take action to improve when necessary.
  • Be a role model for the organisation's values and standards.
  • Develop and maintain technical knowledge and expertise for self and team.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Portfolio management experience in accounts and tax within a practice.
  • Strong client relationship development and maintenance skills.
  • Proficiency with accountancy software suites, ideally Xero and Sage.
  • Audit or independent examination experience is preferred but not required.
  • Qualified Accountant – ICAEW or ACCA (part-qualified candidates with relevant experience will also be considered).
