Deputy Manager Children's Residential Home

Eden Brown Synergy has an exciting opportunity for a Deputy Manager to join an established Childrens' Residential Care Group providing residential support for children with EBD. The Home accommodates children ages 11 - 17 years.

The Purpose of this role:

The Deputy Manager would be required to assist the Registered Manager in achieving the aims and objectives of the Statement of Purpose. To Deputise in the absence of the Registered Manager.

To support and manage the staff, to enable them to meet the needs of the children and young people. To undertake direct work with children and young people as appropriate. To be the responsible person in managing child protection concerns and complaints. To work in partnership with other professionals to achieve optimum outcomes for young people. To offer supervision and support to other staff in line with Quality Standards.

Requirements for this role:

Qualifications required

  • Diploma Level 3 Residential Childcare (or equivalent)
  • Willingness to complete Diploma Level 5 Leadership and Management in Health and Social Care (Desirable: a completed Level 5 Diploma)
  • Full UK Driving Licence

Experience Required:

  • At least 1 year experience in a similar role of Deputy Manager in a children's residential setting, supervisory experience
  • At least 2 years; experience working in a children's residential setting managing challenging behaviours
  • Experience of acting as an appropriate adult, Interviewing, Performing on-call duties and DSL/DSO

Knowledge and Skills required:

  • Knowledge of CHR 2015 and the QS**,** the Children Act and other relevant legislation
  • Awareness of Equal Opportunities/ADP issues
  • Understanding the needs of looked-after children including managing challenging behaviour
  • Team-building skills
  • Supervision skills, ability to manage teams effectively and to motivate and enthuse staff
  • Ability to communicate both verbally and in writing with excellent organisational skills
  • Counselling skills, Training skills and recruitment experience

Duties & Responsibilities (not limited to)

  • To assist the Registered Manager in the implementation of all aspects of the Statement of Purpose
  • Contribute to the devising, implementing and evaluation of changes, with the involvement of front line staff, to continually improve services, systems and standards, in conjunction with the Registered Manager and the Senior Management team
  • To deputise in the absence of the Registered Manager

To meet the needs of children through:

  • Ensuring that each young person has an allocated key worker
  • Ensuring that each member of staff is aware of each child's relevant plan's and their responsibilities for its implementation
  • Carrying out the role of "on-call manager" to provide OOH support for the home, on a rota basis
  • Attending childcare reviews and planning meetings to provide information and achieve best outcomes for young people
  • Undertaking direct work with young people and acting as an appropriate role model
  • Assist in developing systems in which young people are consulted about the quality of care they receive
  • Maintaining accurate written records to record information and enable regular monitoring and evaluation to take place
  • Working in partnership with parents, carers and other professionals to safeguard and promote the welfare of young people.
  • Chairing children's meetings and facilitating consultation with young people generally
  • Acting as an appropriate adult

General responsibilities:

  • To drive company vehicles - subject to policies and procedures
  • To work on a rota basis according to the needs of young people
  • To ensure that resources are allocated appropriately and financial records are accurately maintained
  • To receive supervision in line with the Quality Standards and to take responsibility for personal development and progress of individual training needs
  • To manage a staff team
  • To carry out all other reasonable tasks as directed by the Registered Manager.
  • To promote the efficient and effective operation of the Home
  • To develop systems that ensure the effective allocation of resources
