Senior Estates Surveyor

Are you an experienced Surveyor who is looking for a fresh challenge?

Our client based in Glasgow is looking for a Senior Surveyor to join their Property and Technical Team in an initial 3-month contract. The role will involve leading and mentoring the team, handling property valuations and maximise portfolio value through effective rent reviews and negotiation. You will also market and negotiate land and property sales and acquisitions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in delivering an effective Estates Management Service for property acquisition, disposal and management
  • Provide property management services to support client department and divisional service delivery
  • Ensure property transaction and valuations comply with statutory legal and financial requirements as a Registered Valuer
  • Collate and analyse rent and sales evidence for comparison purposes
  • Negotiate land property transaction with landowners and developers
  • Offer professional valuation advice for rent reviews, lease reviews, acquisitions, disposals and valuations for commercial and specialised assets
  • Aid the efficient management and development of the client's property assets and leased portfolio
  • Support community organisations with property-related matters for Community Asset Transfer requests

Applicant Requirements

ESSENTIAL

Professional/ Educational Qualifications

  • Degree in Estates management, Land Economics or equivalent property related subject. Membership of RICS or equivalent professional body.
  • RICS Registered Valuer, or eligible upon registration

Relevant Work/ Other Experience

  • Experienced general practice surveyor with a minimum of 2 years post qualification
  • Proficiency in property valuation of complex and diverse property portfolio
  • Competent in negotiations of lease renewals, rent reviews, assignations and other commercial tenancy matters
  • Experience of property management of a mixed asset portfolio including undertaking rent and service charge calculations, their apportionment and recharge
  • Experience in acquisitions and disposals of land and buildings
  • The ability to inspect property for lease compliance purposes and identify issues to be addressed

DESIRABLE

  • Experience of using AutoCAD software packages
  • Experience of using Asset Management software systems
  • Knowledge and practical experience of Community Asset Transfer, and understanding of the wider Community Empowerment Act (Scotland) 2015
