About the role
Job Title: Assistant Quantity Surveyor
Location: Wirral, office based
Salary: Competitive, depending on experience
Contract Type: Full-time, Permanent
Job Responsibilities:
- Assist in preparing cost estimates for new projects, including materials, labour, and other resources, helping to set budgets and cost expectations.
- Help with the preparation of tender documents and support the evaluation of bids from subcontractors and suppliers, ensuring value for money.
- Support the senior surveyor in managing project contracts, including handling variations, claims, and payments, and ensuring compliance with contractual terms.
- Conduct site visits to carry out measurements and assessments, gathering accurate data to inform cost analysis and project planning.
- Assist with the preparation of regular cost reports and monitor project progress to ensure that costs are controlled, and any potential financial issues are flagged early.
Experience
- A degree (or equivalent) in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field is preferred. Alternatively, a relevant vocational qualification will be considered.
- Ability to analyse data, assess costs, and generate accurate reports.
- A keen eye for detail is essential to ensure costs are well managed.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with project managers, site teams, suppliers, and clients.
- Strong teamwork and collaboration skills are a must.
- A basic understanding of construction methods, materials, and industry standards.
- Prior experience in the construction sector is an advantage, but not essential.
- Strong computer skills, particularly in Excel and other project management software.
