Inventory Accountant

Marks Sattin are working in exclusive partnership with a Life Sciences business based in Oxford to recruit an Inventory Accountant on a permanent basis. This is a newly created role in a fast-paced and rapidly expanding business, a real opportunity to deploy an existing skill set attained within an Inventory/Stock focused position.

You will oversee the day to day Inventory Management and Accounting areas whilst developing strong relationships with operational stakeholders alongside driving new processes and controls to ensure a robust and watertight function.

This is a fast paced and changing environment, the ability to adapt and work collaboratively is key.

The Inventory Accountant role will be paying between £70,000 and £75,000 per annum plus discretionary bonus, hybrid working options (3 days in the office minimum), 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays.

The Inventory Accountant Role

You will need a clear and evidenced background within Inventory Accounting and stakeholder management ideally obtained within a relevant industry, although all sector backgrounds will be considered. This is a high-profile role and an opportunity to add real value whilst working with high levels of autonomy and ownership, you will drive controls and processes and be influential across both finance and non-finance areas.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Own the inventory accounting and valuation processes
  • Provide analysis and reporting on inventory management
  • Lead on projects related to processes and controls
  • Lead on projects related to system enhancements and upgrades
  • Actively participate in senior stakeholder meetings within both finance and operations
  • Develop and improve data related to inventory including accurate reconciliations
  • Ensure accurate accounting entries for damaged and aging stock/inventory
  • Monthly and quarterly rolling audits
  • Assist with the finance year end

Key Skills and Experience

  • Qualified Accountant - ACCA, ACA, CIMA
  • Ability to work closely with finance and non-finance stakeholders
  • Experience within a complex/fast paced finance department
  • Ability to problem solve and implement solutions
  • Previous examples of taking ownership and leading on projects
  • Clear experience around managing inventory and associated tasks
