Hays are recruiting on behalf of a Sefton primary school that is in need of a KS2 SEND Teaching Assistant to support one of their students with a complex medical condition as well as additional learning needs.
The school, rated GOOD by Ofsted, has funding fixed from September 2024 for 1 year, to be reassessed in September 2025. The school benefits from a fantastic location and works hard to ensure that children are given lots of opportunities to appreciate their surroundings and to take responsibility for taking care of them. The school has a dedicated and highly skilled team of staff and a supportive parent community.

Your new role
The role will involve 1 to 1 support within the class under the guidance and direction of the class teacher. Each day, you will support the child with learning, activities and support with lunchtime supervision. You will ensure the child is kept safe at all times, whilst helping the child to reach their full potential. You will ensure the child is able to access the curriculum and ensure inclusivity with activities.
The post is 27.5 hours per week, to start in September 2024.
What you'll need to succeed
The school is looking for someone who:

  • Has a recognised teaching assistant qualification at a minimum of Level 2 or similar.
  • Has experience of working with children who have SEND on a 1 to 1 basis or within a group; supporting their learning, social, emotional and medical needs.
  • Has experience of working with primary aged children with additional needs and their parents.
  • Is genuine in their desire to work with children as part of an inclusive, committed and caring team.
  • Is able to work as part of a team.
  • Sets high expectations for themselves and children.
