IT Analyst Apprentice

Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine (LSTM), founded in 1898, was the first institution in the world dedicated to research and teaching in the field of tropical medicine.

As a registered charity, we work across the world, often in very difficult circumstances, to fulfil our mission of reducing the burden of sickness and mortality in disease endemic countries. We do that through the delivery of effective interventions which improve human health and are relevant to the poorest communities.

Overview:
We are now looking for an eager candidate to join us as an apprentice.
You will work flexibly to the needs of the IT Service – this will include out of hours working.

You will complete any duties commensurate with the grade and nature of the role.

Salary: £23,144 per annum.

Responsibilities:

  • Support IT and AV services across LSTM Main Activities
  • Install and configure Windows and Mac operating systems
  • Install and troubleshoot business software, including Teams and Microsoft Office Suite; administering and provisioning Office 365 accounts
  • Undertake computer networking and back up tasks
  • Maintain current and accurate inventory of technology hardware, software and resources
  • Communicate clearly with all IT users and assist in resolving IT Service problems

Desired skills / attributes / experience:

  • Evidence of up to date knowledge to keep abreast of changes within the computing environment
  • An understanding of how ITAV is used with a business IT environment
  • Knowledge of back up services, computer networking and PC troubleshooting
  • Knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite including Teams and Office 365
  • Knowledge and behaviours that support equality, diversity and inclusive practice
  • Knowledge and behaviours that support safeguarding as applicable to the role
  • The ability to quickly learn new technologies

Entry requirements:

  • 3 GCSE's (or equivalent) at grades 4+ (A-C) in any subject
  • GCSE Maths and English (or equivalents) at grades 3+ (D or above)
  • Prospective apprentices must not hold an existing qualification at the same or higher level as this apprenticeship is in a similar subject

You may also have a combination of qualifications and experience which demonstrate the minimum foundation needed for the programme. In this instance you could still be considered for the programme.

If you hold international equivalents of the above qualifications, at the time of your application you must be able to provide an official document that states how your international qualifications compare to the UK qualifications.

Future prospects:

Additionally, there may be opportunities to undertake further apprenticeship training as many of our programs offer on-going development tracks. Upon completion of the apprenticeship the applicant may have the opportunity to become a permanent member of staff.
