About the Role

We now have an opportunity for an enthusiastic Public Engagement / Events / Science Communication practitioner to coordinate and assist in the delivery of Diamond's Public Engagement programme for schools and the public on a 2-year fixed term basis.

The successful candidate will contribute to the planning and delivery of elements, including:

  • Delivering talks and tours about Diamond.
  • Coordinating arrangements for external partners.
  • Assisting with the development and delivery of the Diamond Work Experience Programme.
  • Working at festivals, museums and other partner venues discussing our science and its impact in society.
  • Managing public engagement equipment.

About You

You should hold qualifications in science, science communication or education, or demonstrate equivalent relevant experience.

You should have experience of programme planning and delivery, as well as working with volunteers, and managing crowds/large groups. Experience working in science communication with both public and school audiences of varying sizes is desirable.

You will be a capable user of MS Office software, along with knowledge of databases and web content management.

You will demonstrate the ability to concurrently manage a range of events and systems with some degree of independence, along with the ability to use initiative to suggest suitable solutions to problems.

You will demonstrate exceptional communication, interpersonal and presentation skills, including the ability to work as a team and build good relationships with staff at all levels.
