Key Responsibilities:
- Perform microtomy and support in cut up.
- Assist in the preparation and processing of clinical specimens for diagnostic testing.
- Participate in routine staining and the facilitation of work requests.
- Supervise and support Band 2 and 3 Medical Laboratory Assistants.
- Participate in the training of new staff.
- Manage specimen workflow in sample reception on a rotational basis.
- Oversee stock levels throughout the department.
- Work independently, managing your own workload, with supervision available as needed.
Essential Requirements:
- Experience working in a laboratory setting, particularly in Histopathology.
- Competence in microtomy and routine staining techniques.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
Desirable Skills:
- Previous supervisory experience.
- Experience in training and mentoring staff.
