Location: Home Based, with UK Travel, covering mid to south England and Wales
Salary: Circa £40,000, DOE plus open-ended commission scheme and company car
Contract: Permanent, Full Time
Hours: 8.45am to 5.00pm, Monday to Friday (36.25 hours per week)

New Business Development Manager - The Role:

To be successful in this role, you must be a strong communicator who can build rapport quickly, able to fact find to understand the customer's needs and wants, able to put together sound business propositions and then close the sale.

Some understanding of maintenance requirements for machinery and engineering equipment, would be an advantage, as would a basic knowledge of lubricants.

There will be a requirement to work occasional evenings and weekends to visit suppliers/customers, attend marketing events, exhibitions, and trade shows.

As this role includes UK travel you must have and maintain a valid driving licence - There will be a requirement for overnight stays dependant on customer locations.

Main duties and Tasks:

  • Promote and increase sales of Morris Lubricants across all sectors in the UK.
  • Build new business in all sectors throughout your designated area in order to achieve your targets.
  • Visit prospective customer sites to understand the performance of lubricants used and giving technical guidance where appropriate.
  • Liaise with colleagues to provide commercial, technical and marketing support as necessary.
  • Build relationships with your clients and emphasise the benefits of using Morris Lubricants products.
  • Create supply agreements with customers to build a pipeline of orders.
  • Assist and support sales colleagues to address opportunities that are developed or identified.
  • Everyday use of the CRM system to keep accurate records of your progress and achievement.
  • Report progress on a regular basis including a formal monthly report.
  • Develop the designated area, working with the Internal Sales Account Managers to build the business.
  • Commit to ongoing personal development to advance commercial skills.

New Business Development Manager - Preferred Skills / Knowledge / Qualifications / Experience:

The ideal candidate for this position we will be a skilled salesperson with a hunger to succeed in building new business. They will be comfortable talking to prospective clients in all sectors, from the boardroom to the workshops.

Ideally located near M6 corridor, up to Manchester or M1 corridor up to Leicester.

  • At least 5 years' field sales experience.
  • Engineering qualification / understanding
  • Business development experience.
  • Commercial awareness
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Successful candidates must hold a full, valid driving licence
