Whilst the team is based in Liverpool and there is office working available, there is the option for candidates to be be based fully remotely (dependant on experience)

Role overview

The Health Litigation team specialises in clinical negligence claims for NHS Resolution (formerly NHS Litigation Authority), NHS Trusts and other defendant clinical negligence clients.

This is a unique opportunity to work within a team which manages the firm's primary care litigation work from NHS Resolution and other defendant clinical negligence clients. The case load will also include claims against NHS Trusts.

Key responsibilities:

  • To run a caseload of clinical negligence files to include:
  • Drafting reports
  • Interviewing witnesses
  • Drafting witness statements
  • Instructing experts
  • Instructing counsel
  • Attend Court for Case Management Conferences and Application Hearings
  • Negotiating settlements.
  • Holding conferences with Counsel.
  • Preparing for and attending trials and mediations.
  • Contribute to business development by seek new business opportunities.
  • Supervision of colleagues work and supporting development of the team by appropriate delegation and coaching.
  • Cover secondments to NHS Resolution
  • Assist colleagues in the running of higher value claims.
  • Cover free advice clinics at local hospital Trusts.

What are we looking for:

  • Qualified Solicitor.
  • Defendant Clinical negligence experience at a NHSR Panel firm. or MPS MDO experience is preferred but not essential.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a growing team.
  • Demonstrates an understanding of clients' needs/expectations.
  • Adheres to guidelines and client protocols/KPIs.
  • Evidence of meeting hours and contribution target.
