What you'll do:

As an Assistant Underwriter at Aspen Insurance, you will play a crucial role in supporting the underwriting team. You will get exposure to working within Lloyds and the framework of Lloyds, working in a fast paced exciting, dynamic environment and the opportunity to work alongside treaty colleagues.

Your responsibilities will include contributing to operational planning, performing underwriting activities while adhering to legal requirements, and maintaining high standards of practice. You will also be expected to respond promptly to stakeholder requests, develop relationships with key stakeholders, and support credit control in payment collection. Your role will involve underwriting insurance risks as per business objectives and participating in portfolio reviews.

  • Contribute to the preparation and implementation of operational team plans
  • Perform underwriting activities in accordance with legal and regulatory requirements
  • Adhere to underwriting standards and good practice to minimise risk and maximise efficiency
  • Support the provision of a professional underwriting service to uphold the reputation of the function and the company
  • Respond to internal and external stakeholder requests in line with service standards and best practice
  • Underwrite insurance risks in accordance with the business plan and delegated authority
  • Participate in the review and analysis of the portfolio to identify progress toward business objectives

What you bring:

The ideal candidate for this Assistant Underwriter role will bring broad experience from an underwriting environment within a specialised or complex area. Strong interpersonal and communication skills are essential for this role, as well as proficiency in MS Office applications such as Excel. Your ability to collaborate effectively within a team environment will be key to your success in this role. A strong attention to detail is also required.

  • Atleast 3--5 years of international property experience of working in an underwriting environment can be direct or reinsurance.
  • ACII (or equivalent) qualified or progress towards completion of insurance qualifications
  • Motivated Individual who has been fairly trained and can operate autonomous
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Proficient in MS Office applications effectively e.g. Excel and other departmental software packages
  • Ability to collaborate effectively within a team environment
  • Strong attention to detail
