Director - Oil Strategy

The London Stock Exchange Group (LSEG) is looking for a Director, Oil Strategy, to lead the product vision, strategy and execution for the Oil sub-asset class within LSEG Commodities, as part of the Workflows business. Overseeing all aspects of definition and planning through production, release, and end of lifecycle, with end-to-end responsibility on feature/function specifications for highly visible and key propositions, products and services.

You will be a leader with a strong vision, providing guidance and leadership to the product management community. Set the overall business strategy for Oil, including financial targets, performance monitoring and changes to go-to-market approaches and the product sponsor to the sales Organisation. Additionally, you will act as the primary partner to clients on the vision of the Oil offering, explore new commercial opportunities and develop partnership agreements, and work with group leaders to ensure alignment with each product enhancement, sales and marketing campaigns and revenue targets are achieved.

We drive innovation and differentiation across new and existing propositions, product lines and or services to both better address current and future client needs.

You'll bring:

  • Provide input to the creation and development of comprehensive business cases based on growth opportunities and ensuring alignment with LSEG`s overall strategic direction
  • Experience of market leading workflow capabilities in Energy markets
  • Build, lead, influence global virtual team; know whom to engage, how to engage them to ensure delivery serving the client's business

Role Responsibilities & Key Accountabilities:

  • Owns product strategy, design, business requirements, feature and functionality trade-offs for one or more strategic initiatives and/or proposition, product, or service, championing relevant lean, agile and ways of working methodologies
  • Implements and helps define the vision and devising business plans for budgetary approval and product roadmaps, communicating the vision to their teams, senior leaders and stakeholders
  • Acts as the product lead on project delivery teams, providing senior leadership and direction on scope, approach and go-to-market tactics
  • Develops and aligns product messaging to key strategic goals and direction that is set at the platform, company, and group levels
  • Works with senior product, marketing and sales colleagues to ensure realisation of product business cases and to review product performance and revise products / services / sales approaches as needed
  • Identifies, validates and undertakes commercial negotiations with 3rd party vendors and develop partnership agreements where required
  • Maintains oversight of a major product or service, or a set of products within a business line, overseeing all initiatives, product related spend and product performance within own remit, setting OKRs and KPIs and championing their outcomes
  • Leads a Product Management team/s, developing, - mentoring and coaching colleagues to enhance the overall capability in the business and fostering the talent within the function
  • Obtains, organises and filters client feedback and acts as a key client contact for product specific matters and commercial needs
  • Works beyond own product line and/or Business Unit by developing knowledge and contributing into the broader platform and operational improvements, identifying opportunities for proposition, products, or services
  • Establishes a high performing culture emphasizing innovation, growth, and development across all direct product contributing functions including Engineering, Design, Research, QA

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Degree or equivalent
  • Deep Commodity and Oil Market domain expertise with an extensive industry network across multiple senior stakeholders within the customer segment
  • Specific knowledge in the offerings of our primary competitors and how to position the business for maintaining and accelerating growth
  • Significant experience in product development and management
  • Demonstration of product management leadership across both internal and external stakeholders even when not directly having direct reporting lines in data and technology verticals
  • Able to articulate a clear strategy and vision for their asset class (oil) and building buy-in from technology, research, data and product stakeholders
  • Able to clearly engage with senior leadership on the product vision and execute and report against key deliverables
  • Manage stakeholders outside of direct reporting lines across technology, research and content operations is critical to driving successful execution
  • Confident in understanding the drivers of Customer workflows, usage, monetisation of Data Feeds and the technologies being adopted and scaled by customers in the segment
