Business Services Manager

Reed are recruiting on behalf of a 4 Partner firm based in Pimlico, who are seeking a Business Services Manager with a hands-on approach to join their team. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of five years' experience in a UK-based accountancy practice, managing a team, and handling bookkeeping, VAT, and management/year-end accounting assignments across various disciplines and industries.
Day to Day of the role:
- Manage and support a team of three, ensuring the smooth operation of the business services department.
- Utilise accounting software such as Sage Line 50, Quickbooks, Xero, and other bespoke systems.
- Prepare, review, and file VAT returns, including bookkeeping and reconciliations of control accounts.
- Liaise with clients to obtain records, review these, and provide support with bookkeeping/VAT issues.
- Register and de-register clients for VAT as required.
- Provide VAT advice, research to resolve queries, and ensure all VAT Returns are filed on time.
- Support and train clients and staff on bookkeeping & VAT matters.
- Oversee the billing of bookkeeping/VAT services and assist with the preparation of annual accounts to trial balance stage.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- At least 5 years experience working in practice
- Proficient in MS Office, especially MS Excel & MS Outlook, and various bookkeeping software.
- Proactive approach to work and able to manage and control own workload.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to interact professionally with staff and clients.
- Experience managing an in-house business services team.
- Detailed knowledge of bookkeeping packages and the ability to work on IRIS software.
